About

I've been working with clay since 1999 in ceramics studios in Seattle, Chicago, and now in San Francisco for over 15 years.  Most of my recent work is mid-range electric fired and I use a variety of clay bodies.  My pieces usually start on the wheel, they are altered and then assembled.  The inspiration for my work changes constantly but comes mostly from my surroundings.  I love texture, color and most of all experimenting with techniques and glazes.

My ceramics can be purchased at the annual San Francisco Open Studios event, or by appointment.

Events:

Artspan San Francisco Open Studios - Oct 11 & Oct 12, 2025, Yosemite Place, SF

deYoung Museum Holiday Artisan Fair - Nov 14,15, deYoung Museum SF

Holiday Open Studio - Dec 13,14 12-5pm, Yosemite Place, SF

I have about a dozen commercial glazes that I don’t use because I didn’t love the colors as they were. These test tiles are where I mixed two or more glazes. I like almost all of them, I will use them for accent colors on the bottoms of
I’m testing an accent color to complement the yellow glaze. I really like how this piece came out, the bottom of this bowl ended up being more interesting! 🤔

I can’t believe it took me this long to make a (very abstract) dog 🐕
I’m teaching myself how to sculpt figurines, so there will be more creature features ahead 😀

Experimenting with carving the interior of a little dish. This might be harder to do on a larger piece

Stacking jar prototype. My goal is to make a 3 stack. The design needs minor changes, but I worked out the construction logistics.
I wasn’t expecting this piece to sell, but it sold almost immediately at open studios. You just never know wha
A huge thank you to all you lovely people, friends and family who came to my studio last weekend. It was fantastic spending time with you! I very much appreciate your continued support. Many thanks and much love! 💛🙏🏽💛
At the end of day 1 of open studios
This is the best side of this piece. Several technical issues with this one. First it was hard to handle this piece without knocking off the circles, two of them were glued back on after bisque. Second, there were multiple rounds of glaze testing
Come see these teapots and cups at SF Open studios Oct 11-12!

Ziggy is 5 today! Happy Birthday Zigzig! 😍
I normally fire to cone 5, but I fired a few small pots to cone 6 this time. The glazes came out more glassy and fluid as expected, the buff clay fired darker and there was some warping so a lot of these will be ‘seconds’. But there was
